Why Choose the Segway X2 SE?
The Segway X2 is a really cool machine. Again this machine is commercial grade that can be used for personal use as well as for industrial purposes. This model is the gold standard top of the line. There is no self balancing all terrain two wheeled vehicle available on the market that matches the quality standards that the Segway X2 is able to achieve. The balancing algorithms that the X2 uses are essentially the same algorithms that the Segway i2 uses with the exception of a few calculations that compensate for the additional weight of the machine.
If you want to travel on more aggressive terrain then the commuter version is able to traverse than the Segway X2 maybe the right choice for you. We have seen customers pull up to our dealership with a smart car carrying this machine. You can take the handlebar off and two people can lift it up and put it in the back of a vehicle. It may be too heavy for one person to pick up on their own.
This particular model does not fit through a standard doorway, you will have to turn it sideways and pull it through the doorway. So we recommend that if you need to store your Segway PT indoors and need to travel through a standard size door way then maybe you should choose the commuter version. But if you’re looking for something that can travel on gravel and hiking trails then this is the machine for you.

Is the Segway X2 SE right for you?
Again the price point puts this self balancing two wheeled vehicle in a category that appeals to a certain type of customer. If you tend to purchase products that are the absolute best and are willing to pay for that additional quality, then the Segway X2 may be the right choice for you. Also, if you need to use this machine for commercial purposes and you need a reliable machine that you can count on for year after year, then you should consider this machine.
We have customers who travel around the country in an RV and use this machine to get to and from various facilities on the campgrounds. We also have a few customers that live near the beach and they like to use their Segway X2 on the beach and take sunset rides on the shoreline. That’s awesome!

The Segway InfoKey
The key that comes with the Segway PT is called the info key. Every new machine comes with two keys. The keys have serial numbers that are programmed to the machine and are unique. Each serial number is registered with the factory in Bedford New Hampshire and is on record. When your machine arrives at our dealership we unboxed it assemble it and program the info keys.
We recommend using one key until it wears out and then use the second. We also recommend that if you purchase two machines that you label the keys with a sticker or something so you know which key goes to which machine. One key will last you for many years if you take good care of it. You can also get a key protector to ensure the life of the sensitivity of the buttons on it.

What’s the story with the batteries?
Every Segway PT has two lithium ion batteries that power it. Both batteries screw into the bottom of the Segway PT. They are easy to take off and easy to change. They are specialty commercial grade batteries that are designed specifically for the Segway PT. They cost $999 per battery. That is quite expensive, they are so unique though, that it’s worth the price. The Segway PT requires a lot power to accelerate the way that it does so a battery had to be specially designed for it.
If you plug your Segway PT in when you are not using it at all times you will ensure that the battery lasts for a very long time. We have customers who are still using the original batteries from 2007. That’s a long time! Over 10 years! We find that our customers get into trouble with the batteries when they leave them unplugged for 3 to 6 months. Don’t worry about needing to use a timer, the Segway PT has a built in regulator so you cannot over charge the batteries.

How about repairs?
There are little to no repairs required for this machine. It takes an extremely long time for the tires to wear down. In the event that you need to change the tread on the tires you may consider purchasing a new tire kit with the tire that is already mounted on the rim. Segway does not sell the tire tread alone. So you will have to purchase a tire kit if you get a flat tire and it is unable to hold air. Other than that there really are no common repairs that will need to be done for the average consumer. As long as you take care of your machine and treat it well you won’t have any issues. That is one of the selling points. Commercial grade!
